There are so many things I looked forward to when we moved to Tucson, Arizona. We bought a house near downtown and I could walk or ride my bike everywhere. There were grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, yoga, and other wonderful things all within a 5-mile radius. There were hiking trails and walking trails and bike trails. There are not many places that you can live like this, where everything is accessible without a car. It was wonderful.
We spent the first several years getting to know downtown. We met many people and Paul became involved in the Downtown Partnership. I love coffee shops so we spent a great deal of time walking around, working remotely, and drinking coffee. Cartel Coffee was one of my favorites, and Caffe Luce (formerly Sparkroot), and Exo Coffee.

Let’s Sweat opened and Paul immediately became a member and you could not keep him away from Spin and Strength. He was part of their family and he really loved Soleil the owner.

We had offices downtown in coworking spaces, although they do not exist anymore. We started out at Gangplank, then CoLab (in the Pioneer Building), and then we finally had an office at Connect Coworking and we were in the heart of everything. Since we first moved here in 2010, downtown has changed so much. There are new hotels, restaurants (like Penca), places to shop, apartment buildings, and opportunities showing up everywhere. I remember researching cities when we moved here, and I could not find anything comparable in lifestyle to this place. You can walk, ride, and take public transportation and have everything easily available without driving, with mountains and breathtaking views surrounding the city.

I am not a very social person. I like spending time alone. At the same time, I love living in the middle of everything. Citylife is so much fun. These years living with Paul and my husband and building Groundwork Promotions were the best and most rewarding years of my life. We had some great challenges to deal with, but I have never experienced friendship like I did with these two people. I am such a better person, a healthier person, and a more loving person because of working with them and living with them. And I look forward to the future and what I can create, because of my involvement with them and Groundwork.
