There is a fear often, of making mistakes. Of doing the wrong thing, saying the wrong thing, and making the wrong move. When we started out, we were working with serious-minded people and many of them were self-conscious about themselves on video and photographs. Many of them were scared and sometimes paranoid about being seen online, because there is such great competition on social media. People who train hard, they are admired by many, and hated by a few and those few often have loud voices and harmful behaviors online. It can be very difficult, staying mentally and physically healthy and promoting yourself at the same time. You have to find ways to protect yourself, while allowing your work to be shared.
Most often our professional lives feel like combat, where you spend most of your time fighting for time, money, resources, or acknowledgement of your hard work. If you put the time and training in, and you put the hours in, you want to be able to honestly share what you have done. You want to be able to express what you care about, and not be self-conscious about being harmed for it. You want to be able to promote yourself, without worrying about making mistakes. Paul and I work really hard to create a safe situation for our clients, where they can learn and grow and not worry about mistakes. We work very hard to protect them and their interests, and guide them away from “combat online.”
We are very realistic. We know and continue to learn what the world is like. At the same time, we are unyielding and refuse to see marketing, promotions and media creation as combat. We want to create media and content that represent our clients and what is important to them, and what will allow them to achieve their goals. As I say over and over again, we want success, your success and our success. And we do not want to fear making mistakes. Instead, we want to focus on achieving and being our best at what we do.
