“I could not always see my opponent and jiu-jitsu gave me a deeper understanding of what it means to see and know with the body and perceive beyond the 5 senses, and use that information to guide my movement and decisions.” -Stephanie Stean
I have not been able to train martial arts or combat since 2012. It is not important why right now, but I have tried multiple times to train jiu-jitsu, even buying a gi and it did not work out. But here is the funny part, I wrote about “An Intellectual Sport” yesterday, and I want to ask our clients and their students, who specialize in jiu-jitsu, what their experiences are like. Because something happened, and I feel such an affinity to the art, and it does not dissipate. I am not sure if its because of our work with BJJ, or I’m feeling the excitement of our clients, but I feel such arousal of my system and elation when I watch them roll on video.

I said yesterday, I feel a “kinship with jiu-jitsu,” but I think more, I feel a spiritual bond with it and a bond with my body and heart. I do not know why. I am going through Groundwork videos of the past, sorting through work we have done with clients, and creating a portfolio on this website for our company. I cannot help feeling an emotional bond to everyone, but I feel a greater bond to combat and the martial arts. I just want to write about it, and write about it, and write about it. And I want to show pictures of it everywhere.
Groundwork Promotions does not favor any client, organization, athlete, sport or fitness gym over another. But Stephanie seems to be in love with jiu-jitsu. Okay, that’s the end of my sharing about it. On to other work.
